Last week, Lyn Brown MP visited The Gate library, in Forest Gate to make a donation of children’s books. At the library which is located in her constituency, Lyn gathered with excited children to present a collection of brand new story books that included a version of the ever popular Oliver Twist.

The West Ham MP was met by Geetha Unnithan, the Front Office Manager and Alexis Wainwright, Customer Contact manager who were delighted to receive the donations. As chair of the All Party Parliamentary Group on Libraries and Literacy, Lyn sought the donations of books from publishers for libraries across the country. Lyn was pleased to give the books to The Gate as she regularly holds her constituency surgeries there and wanted to say thank you.
Lyn Brown MP said:
“I take great pleasure in giving these books to this local library. I believe it is very important for children to have access to books for the improvement of their reading skills, and to help stimulate their imaginations. I pay tribute the brilliant work of the staff at all the libraries in Newham who work hard to provide great library services to local people”.
