Lyn Brown MP made a visit to Woodgrange Medical Practice as part of her ongoing focus on her constituent’s experiences of NHS services in Newham. Following a coffee morning in Forest Gate, at which constituents were invited to make their views heard on health, Lyn Brown arranged to take a trip to the local Woodgrange practice to find out more about the services that her constituents are receiving.
Greeted by Dr. Patel, a senior partner at Woodgrange Medical Practice, Lyn Brown was shown around the impressively modern centre, which offers a wide range of services and clinics, performs minor operations and offers its patients Saturday appointments. Lyn was told of Woodgrange’s bold new plans to include more diagnostics, offer dentistry services and even offer a walk-in clinic.

Lyn also heard about the convenient and efficient appointment system that Woodgrange Practice has. Patients are sent text messages to notify them about appointments and are able to book appointments online. The Woodgrange Medical Practice website also offers sources of information about the Practice’s services and has the option of applying for repeat prescriptions online.
Lyn took the opportunity to discuss with the staff how the medical practice services could be improved and gave feedback from her constituents about their experiences of their local health services.
Lyn Brown said:
“I’m very impressed with what I have seen today at Woodgrange Medical Practice. This practice provides a patient focused service. It has been quite clear from my coffee mornings so far that patients are seeing a real benefit to the NHS from the money this Labour Government has invested. It is clear that it is not all perfect yet and it is only with continued, honest feedback from patients and users that we will be able to improve our NHS even further”.
