Lyn Brown MP welcomes Newham scientist to Parliament
Newham scientist, Ephraim Ansa-Addoe, joined Lyn Brown, MP for West Ham, in Parliament this week to compete in the national scientific poster competition, SET for Britain.
SET for Britain is an exhibition of posters by research scientists, engineers and technologists who are at the start of their careers. The exhibition gives them the chance to present their research work to their local MPs and other scientists. All posters are entered into a competition with a first prize of £3,000.
Competition was high for places and the judges were very impressed with the standard of the entries. The prizes for first place and runner-up in Ephraim’s section went to two students from SouthamptonUniversity.
Lyn Brown MP said:
“I was delighted to see Ephraim taking part in this competition. He has a real passion for his work and I look forward to seeing his career progress.
The entries were all of a really high standard and it was excellent to speak to so many scientists at the start of their careers. I hope that taking part in SET for Britain will further encourage them in their careers.
I would urge any budding scientist to watch www.setforbritain.org.uk for details on how to enter next year.”
Ephraim said,
“To be selected to the event speaks volumes for the kind research I conduct at my institution although unfortunately I didn’t win. I was really grateful that Lyn took time to listen to my research.”
