Lyn Brown MP is campaigning to make sure working parents and carers claim the help they are entitled to.
Lyn met with leading representatives from the Union of Shop, Distributive and Allied Workers (USDAW) as part of their Supporting Parents and Carers Spotlight campaign. This campaign aims to make sure working parents know what benefits they are entitled to and to help them claim the money that is rightfully theirs.
These benefits include 39 weeks paid maternity leave, paid paternity and adoption leave, the Sure Start Maternity Grant and the Child Trust Fund.

Lyn Brown MP said,
“I believe this government has changed the lives of hard-working families for the better. But I am concerned that many people still don’t know what help they are entitled to. I want to make sure that everyone knows what help they can get from the government for their family.
Extended maternity leave, paternity and adoption leave and the right to request flexible working have all made life easier for families. Better benefits like the Health in Pregnancy Grant, the Sure Start Maternity Grant and the Child Trust Fund have all helped put more money into family’s pockets. As we continue the economic recovery, this is more important now than ever.
It couldn’t be easier to find out what benefits you and your family could be entitled to. Simply visit www.direct.gov.uk or call the following numbers for just the cost of a local call. Or contact my office who will be able to help you.”
