Lyn welcomes the continuation of the London 2012 Get Ahead School Leavers Programme

Lyn Brown MP has welcomed the news that the London 2012 Get Ahead School Leavers Programme will continue to run for a fourth consecutive year.

The programme, which is run by the London 2012 Organising Committee (LOCOG), offers young people leaving school or college the chance to work at the Organising Committee in a full-time paid role.

The successful applicants are recruited into specific roles providing them with hands-on experience of the work place and puts local young people right at the heart of an international event as promised in the bid.

The scheme also encourages and supports the successful applicants to study towards a level 3 NVQ in business administration.

Lyn Brown said:
“This is a fantastic scheme that offers local young people the opportunity to be directly involved with an international event. It puts Newham’s youth right at the heart of the Olympics just like we promised in the bid.

"I am pleased to see that this scheme is once again taking applications from the Host Boroughs and offering local youngsters the chance to get ahead and go for Gold.”

The deadline for the application is 28 February. Applicants can apply via www.london2012.com/getahead.
