
Plans to get all teenagers to carry out 50 hours of community work by the age of 19 will improve their tarnished image among older people, the Prime Minister has said.
Gordon Brown visited Newham Sixth Form College in east London after Government plans to expand voluntary work by teenagers were unveiled.
Five pilot schemes will be run across the country from the start of next year, to test ways in which more than 14,000 young people from the age of 14 can be encouraged to volunteer through their schools.
