Your Views on the NHS

Our NHS is a national institution. It has tremendous support and most people feel they can rely on it for a good service.

The NHS is under pressure at the moment. It has to save a lot of money and at the same time massive national and local reorganisations are underway.

Is all this change going to work? Will the NHS be better or worse? Are you worried that the services you use will still be there for you and your family?

I have many questions about the future of the NHS, not least because it seems to me there is just too much going on and it is just not clear enough how the care and services that patients receive will improve.

I would like to hear from you about your views and experience of the NHS here in Newham. Once I have the results I will use them to tackle health bosses locally and in the government to ensure change is for the good and improves patient care.

Local business Survey

There is very little good economic news around at the moment. Predicted economic growth; inflation and unemployment statistics are sadly all going in the wrong direction. There is a real sense of apprehension in the business community.

The one thing we have going for us is the massive investment in the Olympics in our part of London. For some local people it has meant new jobs and for some local businesses and entrepreneurs great opportunity. For me, as your local Member of Parliament, I want to see us get the most from the actual Games and the long term legacy. I want us to keep pushing to get the best for residents and local businesses here in West Ham.
